Monday 1st January – Windsurf * River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny periods.

Foil – 18.19 knot max, 16.79 knot ave, 4.36 knot hour, 18.27 knot mile, 23.76 km., 14.35 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Tushingham Bolt 5.5 and Storm 6.5.

Headed over to Levington for my first windsurf foil of the new year arriving around 11 with Robert down later, it was sunny with a few boats out doing their new year day race with the tide fairly high and a good breeze but sadly from a poor direction, WSW but with over 20 knots on the gauge I rigged 5.5 again. Sadly after a couple of runs it was it was obvious I had rigged too small so headed back to change to 6.5 but that was only OK in patches as I played hunt the gust yet again. I slowly mde my way up river, flying in the odd gust as the tide came in. It then dropped out and I had to flouder slowly back to find Mag had arrived on her bike:) A quick shower and a yummy lunch with Mag before packing up and heading for home. Tomorrow is looking very windy again but with loads of rain, so might give it a miss!

Monday 1st January - walk ***** – Sunrise Felixstowe prom – sunny periods.

We like to start the new year by seeing the first sunrise and this year was no different as Mag and I headed down to Felixstowe seafront at 7.30. Although the sky was clear inland there was a bank of cloud on the horizon with a hint of red, probably the best part of the sunrise. Down on the prom we ambled towards The Fludyers and it was surprisingly quiet:) With the wind slightly offshore it was quite pleasant as we approached Jacobs Ladder with still no sign of the sun appearing above the cloud, so we waited on the beach for ten minutes until we got a glimpse of gold. We then walked back, now a little busier with dog walkers, joggers and a few dippers. Home for breakfast, sort out a few pics to send the the TV weather and arrange to meet Robert for a windsurf foil at Levington. Nice start to 2024!
